Principal's Bio


Sabrina Farler is a DeKalb County native.  She has 17 years of education experience.  Nine years as a classroom teacher and 8 years as an administrator.    “After completing the last 2 years as principal, I continue to be thrilled to work with such a dedicated, student-centered group of educators and parents working to help develop life-long learners.”  My passion of educational equity and excellence has guided me in a variety of educational positions over the years in DeKalb County as a teacher (1st, 2nd, and 4th grades), assistant principal (DeKalb Middle and DeKalb West), and now the principal at DeKalb West School!  Where every child counts! A school culture of inclusivity and caring are an important part of the student experience at DeKalb West School.  

Mrs. Farler is married to Keith.  They reside in Dowelltown and have two children, Aniston Jane and Marshall.  Mrs. Farler furthered her education at Tennessee Tech receiving a BS in Elementary Education in 1999.  She earned a MA degree in 2003 and Ed. S. in 2011.  In the summer of 2012, she was a TEAM trainer for the State of Tennessee. 

Mrs. Farler brings her tireless enthusiasm and passion for dynamic and engaging student learning experiences daily to her work.  She strives to make decisions with the students’ best interest at heart.
